It’s not as scary as you may think.

A leap from your desktop to the cloud can be as easy as pointing and clicking – and those clicks will open you up to a world of opportunities where you can productively and easily access, use, share, and store your documents.

In short, a cloud migration – of almost any of your functions – will:

  1. Allows you to access information from anywhere. So, if you’re on the go, traveling, working from the beach – you can access whatever you may need via an app or your smartphone web browser.
  2. Creates seamless sharing. With a web-based [cloud] service that has various permissions or access levels, others can collaborate by being invited to specific documents or folders, making the sharing of information easy and seamless.
  3. Is an effective way of storing information. Because of the above (information is accessible and shareable), cloud storage is a great option for keeping documents and information that is used or shared. When choosing your cloud storage platform, ensure the platform uses a high level of security and that your information is protected.

Let’s review a small business scenario.

Sally owns a small business. She loathes tax time, but knows it a necessary evil to keep her business compliant. So like all the other small business owners out there, come tax time, Sally goes into small business beast mode and uses her best productivity practices to make the process as painless and streamlined as possible.

As part of Sally’s tax time arsenal, she uses her Neat app and scanner, and has a Neat Premium subscription.

Last year, Sally floated up to the cloud when she migrated from the desktop version of her Neat software to the Neat Premium Service. She began collaboratively using her smartphone app and web browser to scan and file her documents. Because of these practices, Sally has all of her receipts and documents stored and filed in her Neat account.

Since Sally migrated and has everything she needs in the cloud, she can easily share her tax file folder (which includes all her receipts, expenses, etc.) with her accountant and create an easy, streamlined flow of communication and digital documents that works from both sides.

This year, when Sally prepped for tax time, she felt a wave of relief knowing that all of her documents were already digitized, parsed, organized, and could be easily and securely shared.

Sally sighed with relief…and now she can go sell seashells down by the seashore without worrying about bringing her computer to save receipts and manage her documents since they are available at the tips of her fingers via her Neat app.

Move to the cloud. It’s easy. It’s efficient. And it’s worth it.
